St. Kitts and Nevis both have a tropical climate with average temperatures ranging between 77°F and 83°F. The rainy season, from May to November, may bring brief but intense showers.
Festivals and Events to Consider
The National Carnival (Sugar Mas) in December and January, the St. Kitts Music Festival in June, and the Nevis Culturama Festival in July-August are highlights of the islands’ cultural calendar.
How to Get to St. Kitts & Nevis
By Plane
Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport and Vance W. Amory International Airport connect the islands directly from Boston, Charlotte, Miami, New York and Los Angeles.
By Cruise Ship or Boat
Many visitors arrive via cruise ships docking at Basseterre’s ports. Ferry services between St. Kitts and Nevis are also convenient and scenic.
Entry and Exit Requirements
Visitors must present a valid passport. Visitors from the U.S. do not require a visa, however they must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), which is valid for 90 days. They must also show a return ticket and confirmation of accommodation.
How to Get Around St. Kitts & Nevis
Taxi Services
Taxis are readily available, particularly in Basseterre and Charlestown. Rates are often fixed, so confirm the cost before starting your journey.
Renting a Car
Car rentals are a great option for exploring the islands at your own pace. Remember, driving is on the left side of the road. Pro tip: Get a temporary local permit (it’s required) from the car rental agency or Inland Revenue Department. Don’t rush, the winding roads are part of the adventure…watch out for monkeys.
